MCCI inks deal with Jetro to promote bilateral trade

A memorandum of understanding (MOU) has been signed on Monday, 10th November 2014 at Dhaka between Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dhaka (MCCI) and Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), an organization under the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Government of Japan. The objectives of the MOU are as under:

1. MCCI and JETRO agree to cooperate with each other for promotion of trade and investment both in Bangladesh and Japan;

2. Exchange relevant market information about related industry in their respective country;

3. Support activities of each other, or jointly work to periodically arrange seminars, symposiums, conferences, and business match-making events;

4. Collaborate on Japan-Bangladesh alliance in strategic industrial sectors;

5. Extend cooperation and support to investment missions, which may visit Japan and Bangladesh;

6. Initiate joint efforts to pursue the respective governments for better and attractive investment environment, and to formulate a more business-friendly policy regime in regards to trade and investment;

7. The representatives from the two organizations will meet periodically, preferably twice a year to review the progress of the activities, and formulate plans for future activities; and

8. MCCI and JETRO will cooperate with each other in any other areas, as deemed necessary for promoting trade and investment between Bangladesh and Japan.
