Appeal to All Members to Strictly Adhere to Health and Safety Protocols

Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dhaka (MCCI) earnestly requests all its member-firms, Board of Directors, Secretariat officials and staff to strictly adhere to health and safety protocols during the current infection spike of the coronavirus pandemic. The Covid-19 virus is spreading at a very alarming rate in the country. During the first 15 days of July 2021, Bangladesh reported 153,926 Covid-19 cases along with 2,775 deaths. In Dhaka, the infection rate went up from 22.85% to 24.83% during the same period. On 15 July 2021, Dhaka also recorded 5,234 new Covid-19 cases, the highest among the divisions. Currently, Dhaka is topping the list among all divisions. Even people who received two jabs of a Covid-19 vaccine have been found to contract the virus at random. There have been several cases among MCCI member firms as well. Some officials of MCCI members are still undergoing treatment despite receiving double jabs. Under these circumstances, MCCI sincerely requests everyone to strongly follow the health and safety guidelines, especially of wearing masks, washing hands, maintaining social distancing (keeping at least three feet distance from the next person), and avoiding going outside without any pressing reason. MCCI wishes good health and well-being to all members and associates.
