Partnership for Women’s Employment: The Business of Equity
Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dhaka (MCCI), in collaboration with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the European Union-funded Accelerating Climate Smart & Inclusive Infrastructure in South Asia (ACSIIS) program, launched the Partnership for Women’s Employment: The Business of Equity on 13 February 2024. The two-year initiative seeks to enhance women’s participation in the workforce and address gender disparities within Bangladesh’s labor market, where women currently occupy only 4% of top management positions despite making up one-third of the labor force. This groundbreaking partnership, the first of its kind in Bangladesh, aims to foster economic growth and inclusivity by advocating for gender equality within the private sector. Representatives from the business community attended the launch event.
