MCCI Organizes FGD on NPL and Private Credit Growth

On 14 December 2025, the Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dhaka, organized a focus group discussion (FGD) titled “Non-Performing Loans (NPL), Slowing Private-Sector Credit Growth, and Implications for Business and Banking Governance in Bangladesh — Unlocking Growth: Tackling NPLs and the Credit Squeeze in Bangladesh’s Private Sector”. The purpose of the event was to analyze the impact of non-performing loans and slowing private-sector credit growth on Bangladesh’s economy and propose actions that would help unlock sustainable business and banking growth. Dr. Md. Ezazul Islam, Executive Director (Grade -1), Bangladesh Bank, Mr. Abdul Hai Sarkar, Chairman, Bangladesh Association of Banks, Mr. Kamran T. Rahman, President, MCCI, Mr. Habibullah N. Karim, Senior Vice-President, MCCI, Mr. Tareque Md. Ali, Director, MCCI, Mr. Mohammad Naser Ezaz Bijoy, Director, MCCI, Mr. Anis A. Khan, Director, MCCI, and Mr. Farooq Ahmed, Secretary-General and CEO, MCCI, along with representatives from others banks and the MCCI member firms, were also present during the event.
