Roundtable Discussion on NBR Reform – Shaping Towards an Effective Revenue Policy and Revenue Management System in Bangladesh
On 27 September 2025, the Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dhaka (MCCI), in collaboration with Policy Exchange Bangladesh (PEB), organized a Roundtable Discussion on “NBR Reform – Shaping Towards an Effective Revenue Policy and Revenue Management System in Bangladesh” at its Gulshan premises.
Mr. Kamran T. Rahman, President of MCCI, delivered the Welcome Remarks, followed by Dr. M. Masrur Reaz, Chairman of PEB, setting the context. The session was moderated by Ms. Nihad Kabir, Former President of MCCI. Lead discussants included Mr. A. M. Mahbub Chowdhury, Vice President of Chittagong Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CMCCI) and Mr. Snehasish Barua, FCA, ACA (ICAEW), Partner at Snehasish Mahmud & Co. Expert insights were shared by Mr. Muhammad Zahangir Alam, CFO & Executive Director (Finance & Strategy), Square Group, and Mr. Sayeed Ahmed Khan, Head of Tax, Unilever Bangladesh Ltd. Mr. Md. Farid Uddin, Former Member (VAT), NBR and Member of the NBR Reform Committee, also shared his views, while Dr. Muhammad Abdul Mazid, Former Chairman of NBR and Head of the NBR Reform Committee, delivered the Special Guest’s statement. Some participants also shared their views during the open forum. The program ended with a Vote of Thanks by Mr. Habibullah N. Karim, Senior Vice President of MCCI.
