Martyred Intellectuals Day
Today, 14 December 2021, we observe the Martyred Intellectuals Day. On this day in 1971, realizing their imminent defeat, the Pakistani forces and their collaborators picked up, tortured, and killed eminent Bangladeshi intellectuals in a last-minute attempt to completely wipe-out Bangladesh’s free-thinking class.
The Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dhaka offers its deepest respect for the martyred intellectuals and prays for the salvation of their departed souls.
